I woke up this AM and really felt like I need to explain my journey. We don’t get to see many people who go through a lifestyle transformation, keep it off and stay there. I’m there, it’s here and this is my new normal. I’m not going back!
I vow to use this experience to share out about the reality of what it took, what it takes and will always take to be on this alternate path. Someone wrote and asked, “How do you stay so committed?”
Here’s the secret: I parked the wagon. If the wagon does not exist, I no longer am able to fall off or use a Monday to “get back on” it. It’s a pause to the old life and a slow evolution to the new, repeated one day at a time. I did not try to get a new result and rush back to former ways.
One of my favorite lines from the book, “Present Over Perfect” is about the topic of there. She says, “There is no there, there.” So true!
I had to quit thinking:
“When I get ‘there’, then I’ll be happy.” like in:
<When I can run a mile in _____ time>
<When I can wear that dress>
<When I weigh _____ on the scale>
<When I win that show>
<When I live in that house>
Instead it became less about rules, less about being “good” or “bad”, less about only feeling positive about myself for eating “healthy” foods or following the so-called fitness program to perfection, and more about taking time to be content.
I became content with who I am, what I have, how I think, and the why for my creation and I quit trying to be someone else. I slowed life down and became a student of me. I discovered what makes me my best self and I keep chasing it.
Then I learned my optimal in all phases of life. How can you mess that up? There is no perfection. It’s not pass or fail. It’s just a classroom and I keep learning and doing, forever.
So I tell you this, arriving here to this point on the path, there is NO there, there. Choose contentment of the purposeful life you’ve been given and then chase your optimal. Just keep going!

Mindy
