Getting in my colors for the day: red leaf lettuce, green beans, onions, mushrooms, and pico de gallo. I use grass fed-and-finished beef from US Wellness Meats and then we leave the meat fat in the pan to cook our vegetables.
–
I also use pink Himalayan sea salt and stone ground mustard for flavor and the all-important electrolyte sodium balance our bodies need. Flavor is key!

Having visited the State Fair recently, I came out with a “How can we solve this?” heavy feeling as I walked about. The state of American wellness often feels hopeless to me. The total perspective has really altered the last few years and I often wonder how can we make the shifts our bodies really need?
–
It is not easy because of these three things:
–
1. Everyone’s doing it. 75%+ of American adults are overweight, so this has become the new norm. We have come to just accept it.
–
The majority seems to mask reality. So there appears to be no urgency in change.
–
2. Refined oils are in everything. Again, everyone’s using it and even health food groceries and better brands are using oils like Canola and vegetable oil in everything…even baby food and granola! We are inflamed all day, every day, from a very young age and don’t even know it.
–
3. We have been programmed to slash calories and cardio ourselves into the ground. Eat less and do more, right?
–
What I can say is change is systemic. It starts from within. We have to first shift internally to improve externally. This comes from the compound effect of the lifestyle: sleep, food quality and quantity, stress, hydration AND our relationships and time commitments. This goes well beyond the fork and the step count!

I’ve lived in a failing obese body and now after 9 years of lifestyle modifications and mindset shifts, my tide has changed. It’s now my role to speak out and share. It may be pebbles in an ocean, but every effort matters.
–
So here is my tiny pebble for today. I have hope for change back to the way God planned this world to be!
To Your Wellness,
