Hello! Happy October. I really, really love the fall! I call each of my clients once a month and this is the week I do that for October. I had a break between calls today and my body was low energy, so naturally I wanted to refill a coffee and go take a nap. Who wouldn’t?!
If you ever get that midday energy lull and want to reach for sugar, caffeine or a snooze, here are 5 things you may want to try instead:
1. Outdoor Time for Fresh Air We rarely get outdoors anymore and we’re missing out on what nature has to offer. Fresh air and deep breaths with a change of natural scenery really helps the mind, body, and soul!
2. Vitamin D On the tails of the above from being indoors a lot, low vitamin D levels are at the root of many health issues and we don’t even realize it. Supplementing the nutrition with Vitamin D is an option, but even better is getting it naturally from the sunlight. Up to two hours in the sun is greatly beneficial and I personally don’t use sunscreen because of the chemicals. If I am out for prolonged times, I cover up, wear a hat, or use coconut oil to protect the skin from a burn from overexposure.
3. Movement or Stretching Sitting is the new smoking! We sit when we drive, work, and watch TV. So then our movement patterns tend to be altered and our muscles get super tight. The best way to create energy is to exert energy. Stand up, stretch, move around the block. You’ll be amazed at the energy it creates!
4. Water Dehydration impacts 75% of American adults. Low energy and slowed digestion is bound to happen when water intake is low. I aim to front load my water intake early in the day and stay hydrated all day long. If you’re tired, drink clear water. If you need some flavor, add a tea bag or squeeze in some real lemon or lime and you’ll enjoy it while nourishing your system!
5. 10 Minutes of Unplugging Sitting with EMF (electronic magnetic frequency) exposure all day long is very draining to the body, especially if the EMF is ON the body. When I sit for too long at the computer, I feel low energy and my system struggles. One thing I can do to combat this is step away from the electronics for periods of time thru the day and also make sure to keep the phone or devices off our our lap or in direct contact to the body. Even setting it aside reduces the impact by 80% and you’ll be glad you did. Unplugging is recharging!
This is what my body was missing midday and now I’m recharged. Sitting and electronics drain me. Can you relate?
I really am old-fashioned, but it works. Unplugged, outdoor movement therapy with some drinks of water is quite key!
To Your Wellness,
-Mindy
