I’ve been adding a cruciferous food like cabbage to my daily line-up lately and I feel it has helped remove some fat off my lower body, a place many of us carry extra weight due to increased amounts of estrogen. Cruciferous foods are helpful to sweep estrogen levels down and with my body’s response, I do concur!
Estrogen dominance is common in many women. It can raise lower-body body fat levels and can come from epigenetics, which is where our lifestyle meets our genetic propensity. Increased estrogen levels can come from exposure to plastics, topical lotions, and even thru the foods we eat like non-organic meat and dairy, all relative to what the animal was fed and exposed to.
Trace amounts of endocrine disruptors get into our body on a daily basis from our foods and the environment and long term our systems are like buckets. We collect tiny drips of impact over time until we get a spill, which is when disease and physical setbacks occur.
Collectively, it all adds up and our food choices do matter. I now choose to pay attention daily, but my former me was certainly disconnected.
I never saw the tie to my food choices and wellness, until my body went caput…and I was forced to pay attention and stay mindful. My autoimmune disease has truly been a blessing in disguise!
