Stats: 138.8 lbs; Body Fat: 12.69%….down 2 pounds and 1.1%!
Calorie intake: My calories this week dropped to 2183. Even just taking off 300 a day resulted in a big difference on the scale!
Cardio: 3 days on the tread at 30 minutes, level 9-10 incline and 3.0 mph….slow, steady state
Lifting: Lifted all body parts this week with a past line up. I did a 5-day split of: back, shoulders, legs, chest, and biceps/triceps….it was a nice change and we’re doing that again next week.
Rest Day: Two rest days on Saturday and Sunday and a 2500-calorie refeed on Saturday. My refeed involved oats, egg whites, chicken, white rice, and sweet potatoes. All that coupled with lots of water so the carbs could uptake into the muscle bellies.
A recap of leg day! Reverse kickbacks on the leg press and my favorites…dead lifts!
Pre and postworkout nutrition is KEY in this journey. Post I get 6 rice cakes and my SunWarrior protein shake with added BCAAs. Those rice cakes are like a treat to me, but I know it’s the fast carb that my body needs at that time. I’ve also used Mike & Ike’s candy, too!
Streeeeettttcccchhhh! I always make sure to leave a good 5 to 10 minutes of stretching time postworkout. My muscles have responded very well to this and it helps with minimizing the next day’s soreness. I will use the mats to stretch, but my favorite way is to steal a spot on the Smith and get my upper and lower body stretched at the same time. Love it!
I took my 3 boys to a movie this past week and in my (oversized) purse, I brought my own chicken and green bean dinner. There’s no harm in that….they don’t sell chicken and green beans at the theater, so what’s a Figure girl to do?! Where there’s a will, there’s a way, right?! So I brought it in so I could stay on plan and not be tempted in a hungry moment to dive into my kids’ movie treats!
This week’s progress pics. I’m seeing the best changes in my waistline (finally!!). On the back side of my hips is where I carry a lot of extra fluff and I’m getting it to budge. I also need a good tan, too. May have to do something about that soon!
I will admit this week has been a bit of a test. I’ve felt the stress of being a Mom of 4, a gal on a Figure mission, a wife, an assistant to my husband in Real Estate, and a few added design consult clients this week. On top of all that, I just completed one website redesign and I’m working on another for a division of my husband’s biz. Given all that, I started to question why I’m doing all this show prep and is it really worth it? Long story short, well yes it is! I’m enjoying the challenge, the plan, and the strategy that comes into play. It actually gives me energy for everything else and I love the person I’m becoming, both inside and out. I’m more focused on how I use my time, who I spend time with, when I go to bed and get up for the day, and of course what fuel I choose to put in my body. I’m also learning the value of taking off all my hats and making sure just to be Mindy for a few hours a week, be it getting my nails done, reading a magazine, or taking a hot bath to unwind at night. If you’re a long-time athlete and someone who grew up competing at an early age in any kind of sport, you know the feeling you get from having “that” event to look forward to and plan for. It’s what keeps you young and pushing onward to a better you.
I’m now 20 months from my 40th birthday. Growing up, I vividly remember my Mom’s friends and all the black “Over the Hill” shirts they would wear and the sad moment it appeared to be when one of her pal’s turned 40. As a kid, it seemed life was such a dread at that age and nearly over. I know now it was just a mindset. For me, being so close to that dreaded age while getting my body back after 5 pregnancies and reshaping it into something it’s never been before, I want to give 40 a whole new look! Life is just beginning and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
Just a reminder of where I started in October 2009…….
