This weekend my pastor hit a keyword in his sermon. He said, “In order for you to make change in an area, there has to be a *trade-off*. Something has to go in order for something new to come in.”
So often I see it the other way around. We want change, but we are not willing to do the trade off. How can I get new results AND keep my old ways?
That is not possible.
This is, though:
-Trade-Off: taking time to eat enough, eat a variety of whole foods and track your eats regularly
-Result: the scale ticks down (if losing weight in a caloric deficit is your goal)
—–
-Trade-Off: we get more sleep; turn off the TV, the computer, the phone and power down; focus on our wellness, stay mindful, plan ahead, keep our schedules balanced and realistic
-Result: we have more energy and carry a positive mindset; we actually create MORE time in our day!
—–
-Trade-Off: we learn to say no to all the noise, we make time for ourselves, we aim for consistency, we park the guilt that may come with such actions
-Result: we get to our workouts regularly, no perfectly, but regularly; we’re refreshed and empowered to give back to others, getting to what truly matters
—–
-Trade-Off: we step outside of our comfort zones, abandoning what we always “used” to do
-Result:we learn new ways; our confidence grows; inner strength grows outer strength
—–
-Trade-Off: we practice patience, work consistently, and refuse to make excuses
-Result: we hit our goals in due time….and the sky is the limit!

Progress. It’s all about the Trade-Off!
