Life has a really interesting way of coming about. From 2004-2007, we got our start in Real Estate and I filled the role as General Contractor building and designing these three custom homes in Fishers, IN. As a mother of two, that season was one of the highlights of my life and I was living my {then} dream.
In 2007-09, as the housing market slowed down, I had two more kiddos and eventually started rebuilding my inner and outer self instead of homes. Housing for me took a turn from new construction to renovations, and now carries the role as an occasional design consultant and very part-time assistant to my Realtor husband.
Most recently, the schools in our area redistricted and impacted all of my children’s education, so we decided to make an upcoming housing switch. We weighed our options and I honestly could not see myself bringing another house out of the ground (builder’s speak for building a home!) at this point in my life.
Could I do it? Yes!
Did I want to give it that much time and focus after I have spent the last five years reworking my priorities? No!
So, because my family, my wellness, and my Fitness Coaching/Training business are my new priorities, I did something really big for me. Yesterday I set down my General Contractor’s hat and hired a local production builder to build us a cozy bungalow so we will be living where our kids can keep their schools. The Irish family is super excited!
Letting go of our own ideal can be the most liberating action of all. Just because we can does not always mean we should. There is a time and season for everything and this is the season for setting some plans aside and allowing others to come into full bloom!
I start my Personal Training studies next week on Monday and ironically I’m going to watch someone else build my home at the same time. Make note, I am the lead designer on the finishes, though!
While pausing my housing love, my life is coming full circle to grow my fitness passion and I couldn’t be happier. Hello 2015!
