I’m writing this three weeks out from my first show in my second season of competing in Figure competitions. You can read my 19 weeks to the stage from my first season on this link HERE! Much has changed since then, but it was where I was at that point in time and I get many people to write me from those posts on how to get started on their journey.
I have been working hard behind the scenes this year and went into a building season in June of 2013. Since then, I’ve been working with my Coach Shala Singer to grow, learn, eat, sleep, drink and enjoy the journey. I’m getting a new Coach in June and will start a whole new building season for a few months before I get back on stage for the Monster Mash in Cincinnati, Ohio in late October.
My ultimate goal is to be competitive enough to compete at the National level, so I need to keep focusing on building and add some competitions in here and there. I also think it’s valuable to experience contests in other states and in front of unfamiliar faces so I can learn all sides of the industry. I’m putting this out there. I want to get my Pro Card! It’s a big goal and I have a lot of work to do, but I want to aim high!
Now three weeks out from the June 7th show in Indianapolis, I’m cutting and watching those macros like a hawk as I get closer to the stage. My lifting is still consistent and my cardio has increased. My macros change daily because we carb cycle, so I can’t report what those are. Bottomline, my carbs are pretty low so my body will tighten up. And I love seeing the results of working the plan!
These are pictures we captured on a mid-week update to my Coach. I have dropped about 16 pounds in this prep since March and I weigh in at 132 here. I’m trying to hold on to all that hard-earned muscle and wave goodbye to the fat. It’s just part of the game!
This journey has been tough. We moved and are mid renovations. Our Real Estate business is growing and my kids’ activities just get busier. There are many times I wondered, “What the heck am I doing?” And then I remember my why. I want to see what my body can conquer. I want to do what I once thought I could not. I want to get uncomfortable and model consistency for my kids. I love the internal and external changes this process brings. I truly believe I was hardwired for this. It’s not for everyone, but I am embracing it!
This is a reminder of where I started. I brought my 4th kiddo home from the hospital on October 7, 2009 on my 35th birthday. I knew I had been through a lot of change in those years, but I had chosen not to make my wellness a priority. October 7th was Day One of my journey to change that. I chose to change my lifestyle, park my excuses and go to get me back.
And here I am! I turn 40 this October 7th, 2014 and I’m happy to report I finally feel like me in my own skin. I got me back and now it’s a journey to just keep making me a better me. Me vs. Me, year after year!
